Tech here actually means Technology and also Technique. Therefore, MTL is not just for Techies. Business/Entrepreneur people, Academia, Administration, Finance and Marketing, the Media are also important.

Mantra: Do. Show. Tell. Network.

Benefits
- Be a part of the smartest community based in Montreal
- The power is in the network.

2. What can I do to help the MTL?
2.1. I’m an Individual:

Talk and Blog about us and join us. Make it known on the net and elsewhere that Montreal has a talented and vibrant Tech and Business community. Propose help on specific things, code, administrative services, organize a conference for the League, help fund, share your ideas. First word of the MTL Mantra: Do

2.2. We’re a Company or an Association:

Sponsor the MTL. Help fund us for our projects, offer hosting space, hardware, software, services, mentoring. You’ll feel great you did.

2.3. I’m a reporter and want to write about the MTL in the newspapers or magazine:

Fantastic! Let’s get the word out! Contact Josh.

2.4. We’re a University:

Great! Tell your students about the MTL. Join us too. Tell us about research being done in your departments and the courses.

3. I am none of the audience categories mentioned above but I know for a fact that I am smart, can I be part of the MTL?

Welcome to the MTL :) You are also most welcome if you speak other languages than English. Vous êtes les bienvenus à MTL si vous parlez Français ou d’autres langues.

4. Your idea is super. Can I steal it and build a Tech League for my city?

Thanks. No need to steal. Feel free to build your own Tech League in your area, and let’s collaborate on some inter-city projects too.

5. I have an inkling this isn’t a real FAQ. You wrote all this yourself, didn’t you?

I told you you were smart. Have you joined us yet? You should.

    nice! i’m down.

  2. Josh Says:

Hi Julien, thanks for dropping by.

I hope you mean you’re ‘down with it!’ rather than ‘I feel down’. As a part of the Montreal scene, I also consider you as an instigator of the debate which led to the creation of the MTL.

So if you’re “down with it!” (I’m an optimist), then what you can do is make the logo visible on your blogs and websites.

Think of joining the forum too.

    Best.

  3. Fred Says:

    I’m down too!

  4. Josh Says:

    Fantastic, Fred!

I see that the logo’s up there too at http://siliconisland.wordpress.com/ and you wrote a great recap of the Entrepreneur lunch organized by Ben Yoskovitz @ http://www.instigatorblog.com/ as well as the local Tech Scene mentioning the MTL. Excellent read.

Thanks for your support and for organizing BarCampMontreal and DemoCampMontreal.

  5. phil Says:

    hi,

I think that you forget one thing : The power isnt in the network

the power is in the people who makes a thing, not in the thing.
if tomorrow there is no IT, people will be still here.
making IT for IT people is a mistake.

    have a nice day.
    P.

  6. Josh Says:

The MTL is about a network of smart people, not a network in a technological sense as you seemed to have misunderstood.

    Hi Hugh,

Thanks for dropping by :) Looking forward to seeing you on the forum.
