Looks like you have to use the fully-qualified assembly name, according to John Lam at http://www.iunknown.com/2007/07/a-first-look-at.html

#require 'mscorlib'
require 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'

f = System::Windows::Forms
f::MessageBox.show “Hello from .Net!”

It seems that the mscorlib requirement can be commented out.

Have you tried building with the Build.cmd command first?

I tried both 2005 and 2008 C# Expresses, but couldn't get the Forms example to work. When I type "require 'System.Windows.Forms'" into rbx, it complains that it can't find the file or assembly. Are there some environment variables or additional SDKs required?

Thanks Josh, that helps. I never spend much time to learn what is silverlight and its purpose. Over the weekend I spend considerable amount time on Silverlight and it make sense on what you mentioned in the post.
I already posted a message with John as well.

Hi Nair,

John is better placed to answer this, but remember that it is a really really early release. It's not even beta. It's not even alpha, it's a 'pre-alpha'. That's how early it is.

So if some kind of XAML integration is planned, and it should be since scripting Silverlight from IronRuby would be of great value, then people can either contribute to it or wait for the code to be implemented by Microsoft.

Thank you very much for illustrated example and I got a good kick start and I was able to create good looking app in minutes.

But I am curious about XAML integration in the IronRuby, is it implemented, if so, how could I use it in IronRuby. I saw the IronPython implementation but I couldn't use the same technology nor the c#. I checked the code also, there is a Xaml module which has nothing but to throw an exception. May be I was looking something wrong.

Thanks again for the great stuff.

Great stuff Josh. I have been doing a bit of hacking on IronRuby myself. Please keep up with some more posts like this.

Hi Hushar,

In my case I first built IronRuby with the Build.cmd command before trying to build it with Visual C# Express 2005. That's the only thing that comes to mind.
